NGC 7662 ist einer der hellsten planetarischen Nebel, der sich mit einer Helligkeit von 8,3mag auch mit einem Fernglas beobachten lässt. Allerdings ist er mit einer Winkelgröße von 0,99' × 0,71' sehr klein und erscheint auch im Teleskop eher wie ein unscharfer Stern.

Er befindet sich etwa 5000–6000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt und hat eine Ausdehnung von etwa 50-60.000 AE. Im Zentrum befindet sich ein weißer Zwergstern mit einer Oberflächentemperatur von ca. 75000 K.
NGC 7662 wird wegen seiner Farbe auch "Blauer Schneeball" genannt. Diese rührt vom  zum Leuchten angeregten Sauerstoff her. V.a. die OIII -"Linie" ist im Emissionsspektrum gut zu erkennen, aber auch Anteile von H-Alpha und Stickstoff.... 

Daten der Aufnahme:

Skywatcher Esprit 150, AZ-EQ 6, Canon EOS 60da, ISO 400

9mal 120sec., 8mal 60sec, 8mal30sec., 8mal10sec. und 8mal 5sec. Also insgesamt 41 Bilder.

Vom Hauptbild wurden 10% (in Länge und Breite) ausgeschnitten und vorsichtig vergrößert. Die selektive Verwendung verschiedener Belichtungszeiten war hier sehr nützlich, damit innen die feinen Strukturen erahnt werden können.
